Not fair; service and performance are area dependent, I think. I have been with tata indicom for close to 3 years, I am more than satisfied with the uptime and response. Major problem I have faced is packet drop which lasted for a week. But the service engineer visited every day to do something - change modem, cable , trials with calls to the server - and the problem was sorted out.

An ISP needs to offer consistently good service in many areas to be considered good. So, going by this yardstick, Airtel is better than Tata - do you agree?

Obviously, Airtel and BSNL are much better than Reliance and Tata any day. First of all, BSNL and Airtel does not have Fair Usage Policy, [Airtel has it but you can still surf after crossing 100 GB, with reduced speeds], unlike Reliance and Tata who can terminate your connection if you cross the limit. Secondly, there are little or no downtimes with BSNL and Airtel. Also people get promised speeds with BSNL and Airtel.Coming back to point, Yes Tata does have 2 MB Unlimited, but it is not Fair Usage Policy free which sucks..!

And, Airtel customer service is better than BSNL and I guess this is a well known fact.
