25Mbps UNLIMITED FOR 1449Rs Looks Interesting

but you also do not go to an all-you-can-eat buffet and eat the entire smorgasbord, do you?

right. that was what i was trying to say :D

It does kinda work both ways, I think. If you have no money or want to not pay for certain conveniences (for us it's high speed, for a restaurant it's so that you don't have to cook the meal or clean the dishes), don't go to a restaurant... and if you do go to the restaurant, as you mentioned, you buy enough food to feed everyone at the table - you don't go and buy a half-plate of rice only.

mgcarley I have agreed to all those FUP terms and conditions. But somewhere the wheels at hayai installation are not moving despite the launch 4 months ago. I am tired of bugging you.

As you know, we are not able to do installations in order of 1, 2, 3, 4... we have to do things in the way in which they are logistically possible.

that is why you 'would' have the option to take a place where you can download as much as you can for 10-12 bucks per GB.

with my present isp i am downloading 18-20GB everyday and uploading 10-12GB from link-removed,monthly transfer is above 600GB, and my per GB download cost comes to around 1.93Rs as I pay 1158Rs per month all total for that, so 10-12Rs per GB is a bit higher according to me

you are on a perfect plan that suits your downloading requirement. i suggest sticking to the same. you are unlikely to find a cheaper option in the market. at 2 rupees per GB, your ISP is probably making a loss on you.

why loss? he is taking 1158bucks for that monthly

because ISPs pay for data and not speeds. and per GB costing could range from 1-3 rupees for an ISP (pretty much impossible to find out the exact figure for different ISPs). could be more for smaller players who buy from other players and so on. and of course there are other expenses like network management, salaries and of course the need to profit from the operation and so on. it's not like bandwidth is unlimited in the market and a fixed fee per month would be profitable no matter how much a customer downloads. bandwidth is pretty much like water and electricity... it is limited in amount. other users are probably compensating for the losses your ISP is probably making on you. if every single customer of your ISP start download 600-700GB per month, he would either go bankrupt or well change the plans available to you guys.

Oh! I didn't know that ISP buys bandwith from Wholesale providers like Tata,Bharti on the basis of pay per GB, I thought they buys a leased line or uplink at a cost on per annum basis which has Unlimited transfer, then buys a range of Public Ip addresses from INA and distributes among users according to contention ratio.

Alliance is counting on the fact that you are one of a very small percentage of people who are using the line like you do. Given that we are not offering any low-speed plans as they do, we are not in a position to make the same assumptions, nor are we restricting your speed at any point during the day as they do for you (nor are we restricting speeds after the 200GB FUP).

Were we offering plans alternating between
