i think its a good idea. especially considering the insane cost of watching a movie out in theaters. its a good way to teach multiplexes a lesson on fair pricing.

ur statement really proves that DTH would encourage piracy of new movies if released earlier:cool2:

with TS+, PVR it will be more easy

and you are claiming here that Tata Sky plus allows you to record movies accessible through movie on demand?

it is fairly complicated but not impossible to capture movies on DTH.

so this could possibly result in faster availability of good print pirated versions.

----------

but...

if the DTH operators are doing fingerprinting correctly, it would also become very easy to capture the customer whose connection was used for the pirated print.

Whatever it is, almost all movies comes to the movie chs sooner or later. Some examples of chs which premier movies within a short span of time are Sony, UTV Movies and Colors specially. These 3 chs premier movies within 6-7 months of its theatrical release. I dont see any other chs premiering movies. Other chs like Zee TV, Star Plus, NDTV Imagine airs movies after they have been premiered on Colors, UTV Movies or Sony. So unless a movie is a blockbuster, I guess we can wait for 6-7 months to watch them.Secondly, coming to movie piracy, I guess these days people don't even step out of their homes to get a pirated CD/DVD. They simply download them off the internet. On a final note, its not a big deal to record movies from DTH MOD chs. Its very simple. All Dish TV STBs come with a separate RF out. Users can simply connect the RF out with an RF cable to a TV Tuner Card of a laptop/PC and record them. I am not sure if TS has an RF out. Its very simple and not like breaking a hash code. Infact, this has made it easier to make movies available in true DVD quality in just a week of its release.

as i said... it can actually become easier for movie studios to catch the pirate if they can do digital fingerprinting properly.

no its not possible to retain the recorded showcase movie on tata sky plus stb..... we can record the movie on showcase and watch it on that day till 12 am only....so it means practically we can watch the movie only for 24 hrs...as after dat when we try to play the recorded content.....it says pls subscribe to the channel (as it shows normally on any showcase channel) .... its not fair we shud be allowed to retain showcase movies...coz anyways normal customers wont be able to transfer dem.....nd since we ve paid a premium we shud be allowed to retain them ...

That is PIRACY! Earlier it was CD/DVD, now its just download from internet.

When I seen the whole movie (pirated from Tata Sky's Showcase), the people who uploaded had masked the numbers appearing on the screen. Ocassionally I could see some Blue bars appearing on screen, later I realised that it was numbers which appears, but are masked by pirates (or what ever they are called :) )

Movie is provided to be watched only for the day of payment. Your watch it on Showcase channels or on Recorded, after end of the day it would not be accessible.
Note: It was discussed many times in old threads of TATASKY+

that is what i was saying. digital fingerprinting has to be more sophisticated. showing numbers that are visible to naked eyes are not going to work :)

Yes thats what I am talking about. Piracy will tend to exist in some form or the other. So the movie producers who are trying to get rid of piracy are actually making way for more piracy by letting movies release in DVD format within a day or two of their theatrical release.

And catching the pirate is not easy. Just as SVK said, the Subscriber Id can be easily blurred so as to avoid any legal actions !

Aamir Khan : "We are NOT releasing 3i simultaneously on DTH. We are releasing only in cinema halls.":):cool2::D:ohyea:
