i currently own dataone broadband.ul plan.now i am hearing about this 3g a lot.at first about bsnl and now docomo.i would like to know tht if we can replace the wired broadband in place of 3g.leave besides the tariff plan. on technical front is it right?i mean wht about the consistency of 3g.contant connectivity.speed.only intended use is internet.leave those video calls and voice as well.for eg: can i use 3g instead of dataone to download torrents all night? wont there be any issue being wireless? :ashamed:

i would personally not take this route. 3g is not designed to replace landline broadband. and it is not going to. at least in the near future. even in united states... broadband is still dominated by landline based services or cable. 3g is primarily restricted to data cards and mobile hotspots.

no. because i do not want people downloading their torrents to interfere with my voice calls on the 3g networks. i do not want my service provider to provide service comparable to AT&T in USA. it would definitely suck if mobile companies in india start offering 3G services as an alternative to broadband connections. i am all for unlimited broadband packages. but seriously... not at the expense of poor voice services.

moreover, 3g is fast because of less number of users. If it happens to replace landline, the service will be worse and also the operators cannot offer to evry customer the promised service. for example, i am not a fan of 3g but i am forced to use it just because my area is not covered by landline service providers. fortunately 3g signal is fantastic (cost is equivalent as well).
