4K content creation holds better value in long run than 1080p

This guy has has been making 4k 60 videos since 2017 if I’m not wrong and thats almost 10 years ago

For another example is LTT and his other channels. They were making 4k30 videos since 2013/14 i think

Now why I’m mentioning this?

Because YouTube Recently started lowering bitrates of 1080p video (even those watching with premium bitrate selected). So every 1080p video uploaded now is significantly compressed to save storage and bandwidth costs

The same doesnt apply on 1440p and 4k videos especially, 4k hands down gets the least compression blockiness
And this remains true even for 4k videos uploaded 10 years ago

Now why I’m angry is because YouTubers and other creators online had a thing for calling 4k as not worth it. Especially in late 2010s and Early 2020s and fuckers stopped doing this now.

By comparing 1080p to 4k and saying well who needs 4k? Lol

Listening to this crap i exported 4k videos into a 1080p res and youtube introduced significant compression on those in the long run.
Jeez so much for not thinking about the future well

Wow, you are right. I thought my eyesight had gone bad...

For me, all videos run on the AV1 codec. Just checked on the bitrate across multiple videos at 1080p, and it averages about 769Kbps to 2.4Mbps.
The bitrate for 1440p & 4K has been reduced as well, but I guess the AV1 codec manages to hold them just fine.

1080p content looks pretty bad on YouTube now that I am used to 4K but the recommendation algorithm has gone so shit that I have stopped watching YouTube completely unless referring to some recipe or tutorial. Got digitally detoxed without much effort .

Saving on production cost, typical indian mentality. Happens with every other thing until it becomes a norm. There are only a handful of indian creators who have decent to good production quality. Most of them press record on their iPhone and go "Hey Guys welcome to my YT channel".

YT revenue is very less in India compared to US and other countries. Paid promotion is the only way to make decent money hence the cost cutting in production quality I believe.

I have known successful channels who could easily afford the switch to 4k in late 2017 or early 2018
But they didnt

While a lot of foreign creators already shifted to 4K

Revenue issues can be the reason too

And half of them are like “people are gonna watch on phone anyway” so they use this excuse instead of switching to 4K

4K has been significantly more accessible since iPhone 11 series i feel

As that was the first phone to do 4k60 on all the lenses (even the front camera)

8K gives diminishing returns when compared to jumps of

480p to 720p
720p to 1080p
1080p to 4k

And lastly 4k to 8k

Apple knows this very well and this is also the reason why iPhones does not have 8K video yet as compared to samsung which is doing 8k since 2020 i think

4K HDR or HDR video but compressed in SDR is more important to Apple and its genuinely a good thing

Video quality on iPhone is way better than any other android. 8K or 4K, doesn't matter. Videos look stellar and sharp. Apple is always late to the party but arrives fully prepared.
There are barely any devices available in the market that have 8K display so no point having 8K video recording, it's just gonna hog space.

I personally hate HDR videos on YT, all of a sudden screen becomes too bright. On my iPhone and Mac, it looks fine somehow.

@_rajat Apple has worked a lot in developing codes for movies

ProRes 422 etc

They have significant knowledge about HDR video thats why HDR works flawlessly on iPhone and Mac as compared to windows

Also the reason HDR can do a flashbang is

Tone mapping issues.
