A strange problem with BSNL via ethernet cable ....

Hello everyone ....
I got a strange but serious problem regarding connecting to BSNL via ethernet cable ....
WI-FI is working fine .... In fact i am posting this thread using wi-fi itself ....

but due to hardcored mesh of wires in my colony .... magnetic field intensity is too high and causing interruptions in my wi-fi ....
so i cant rely using wi-fi (except in emergency cases like present) ....

My modem is Nokia Siemens Residential router 1600 ....
Earlier i used to manually connect my BSNL till it spammed me with error 651 for 3 or 4 days .... then i called up junior engineer of BSNL and he just made my internet work through WI-FI and went saying,"Your LAN card is burnt"
he did nothing on my laptop except checking "ping 192.168.1.1" in command prompt and opening modem settings and enabling my wi-fi ....
then i got my laptop for a repair and that guy checked my laptop and told,"laptop is ok, Are you using BSNL ?"
i really could not stop laughing about his guess, but still he told me to change TCP/IP4 settings like

IP : 192.168.1.43
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1
DNS : 218.248.255.196
alternate DNS : 218.248.255.194

well these settings worked like a magic charm and i got access to BSNL via LAN .... but again since last 5 days im stuck with it .... not connecting via eternet cable ....
Tried : 1. changing TCP/IP4 settings ....
2. Resetting modem and configuring it again .... PPPOE ....
3. Enabling/Disabling Local Area Network ....
4. uninstalling and re-installing my nvidia nforce network adapter ....
5. Enabling DHCP and auto IP addres and DNS acquisition ....

result : FAILURE :/

I know many of you will suggest to change ISP and even i would had done it long back .... but no other LAN based (wired) broadband available in Rupnagar (Ropar), Punjab.
so please it will be helpful if someone can solve it ....

P.S. : I am able to access internet of HFCL (connect telecom) at my friends place using same laptop.

Try disabling IPv6. Can you ping any server?

Make these changes

IP : 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1

DNS : 218.248.255.139
alternate DNS : 156.154.70.1

Disable all security application and firewall.

Try disabling IPv6. Can you ping any server?

Tried that also

.... when i try to ping any server, as an example
ping 192.168.1.1
it says host not reachable.

Hmm, have you tried factory resetting the modem router ? Easiest way to fix such issues.

Tried that also

.... when i try to ping any server, as an example
ping 192.168.1.1
it says host not reachable.

Sorry buddy, I had to go out.

Now, If you cannot ping 192.168.1.1, then something is seriously up.
In your TCP/IP settings, is it set to 'Obtain an IP address automatically' & 'Obtain DNS Server address automatically'?
It would be preferable to do this without resetting. But if all else fails, then do what x720 said - Reset.

Just make a note of your modem username & password, internet username & password, VPI/VCI settings & you'll be fine. Reset, login, make the necessary changes & you're back online!
