Our President is a Congress boogeyman. And I am not sure how Aadhaar would be unconstitutional. I mean there is no right to subsidies. Is it? So no fundamental right is being violated if the government states that to avail of certain subsidies you need to get this stupid card which violates your right to privacy.

hehe. i am just curious about one thing. we do not have a right to get government subsidies. so how is a government regulation that requires you to have a government issued identification card to get subsidies illegal?
i mean this would also mean that asking for voter id card to vote is also illegal. wouldn't it? :D
Considering we do have a right to vote.

i think it has more to do with the protection of ones privacy , specially with biometric data being made readily availble for misuse or without any safeguards. also the issue of nationality needs to be taken care or as 95% or more dont have passports and yet get reliefs on the basis of some id card issued by the government (migrants from neighbouring countries)

The truth is the cunning government has absolved themselves of protecting the citizens rights by saying getting an Aadhaar is voluntary...and they forced the citizens to comply by saying the requirement of Aadhaar will be mandatory for availing the subsidies and other facilities.

The Aadhaar scheme is unconstitutional as applicants are required to part with personal information on biometrics, iris and fingerprints, infringing their right to privacy, which is held part of the fundamental right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution, Justice K.S. Puttaswamy, retired judge of the Karnataka High Court, and other petitioners told the Supreme Court.
“There are no safeguards or penalties and no legislative backing for obtaining personal information, and the proposed law introduced by the government has been rejected by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance. Provisions for collection and retention of biometric data have been held impermissible in the United Kingdom and France by their top courts.”
Justice Puttaswamy said linking of the Aadhaar number with food security under the new Act, LPG subsidy, the Employees’ Provident Fund and other direct transfer of benefits made enrolment under the Aadhaar scheme mandatory, falsifying the government’s claim that it was voluntary.
Moreover, he alleged, Aadhaar numbers were being given indiscriminately, including to migrants without papers, creating a serious threat to national security. The executive order was “mala fide” as the whole object of rushing through the Aadhaar scheme was to “secure political gains.”

I am not sure if Supreme Court has any authority to do that. :) From what I understand, they are supposed to not interfere with the government work and this is exactly what they are trying to do.
Aadhar is still niraadhar as it has not been passed in houses. And it's purely unconstitutional to make it mandatory unless its a law. So, Supreme Court verdict declaring Aadhar Card not mandatory is correct. Now this moily face need to be done oily for increasing fuel prices and talking Shit. hehe. i am just curious about one thing. we do not have a right to get government subsidies. so how is a government regulation that requires you to have a government issued identification card to get subsidies illegal? i mean this would also mean that asking for voter id card to vote is also illegal. wouldn't it? :D Considering we do have a right to vote.
Yes one have right to vote but how will he prove that he have that right. And hence voter ID is required same as Pan is required for Tax Return

From what I understand Aadhaar has the same purpose. To ensure that individuals cannot avail subsidies multiple times.

For that ration card is there. They would have improved that. Why Aadhar? Why Biometric details and why US agency for data storage?

How hard is it to duplicate Ration Card? Is there a computerized system that can authenticate Ration Card? What is the safest way to verify a person's identity so that he cannot misuse government subsidies? Biometric data.

Yeah aadhaar is totally voluntary, but even to live in a hostel students need aadhaar, and since its voluntary, he can sleep and live by the roadside, if he doesn't want to enroll for it, so conveniently voluntary
