I find his direction in movies not populist or commercial.But again as they say that people in Academy Awards select movies based on their weird checklist!Avatar gets nominated which is pure commercial movie

No nomination for Dark Knight. Donno what wrong Nolan has done, he never won an academy award. Now not even nominated!
Summer blockbusters are usually ignored. The Oscar baits get released in the fall.

The Cinematography Academy Award goes to Life of Pi.

The Hobbit nor The Avengers won the award for best Visual Effects. The Life of Pi won it.

Well they created a tiger which looked pretty real to me. I believe it was almost entirely CGI!

waltz won..he deserved it truly..i was surprised to see someone like brad cooper getting nominated but i havent watched the movie yet,would be trying to watch it soon...

you are talking about upside down? it is a very good movie. i am not a fan of cooper but if you watch this flick, you would sort of agree with the nomination.
