ACT Chennai New Connection - Router Suggestion

I am using BSNL Broadband for almost a decade. In recent days the 4 mbps given by BSNL was not enough for my PS4 and Live streaming of sitcoms. So thought of getting a new connection and went for ACT 40mpbs Plan. I reached the ACT Chennai customer care on 7th April for new connection. Within 5 minutes the sales guy called back and connection was given in one day.

When i tried Speedtest, the speed was 40 mbps while the cable was directly connected to laptop. But the speed is 20 mbps only when i connect thru Wi-Fi. The tech guy said the router may not be supporting the speed. I use Belkin N150 router.

Suggestions welcome from members for router to get 40 Mbps speed.

Is it an older laptop? It might support only wireless G.

Yes, your laptop's wireless card only supports wireless G. You can get a wifi dongle/USB adapter (preferable) or upgrade your wireless card to get faster speeds.

Look for one which has a bandwidth of 300 Mbps (at least). Other users may be able to suggest something.

Guess that should do the job.

PS: He's on the 40Mbps plan.
