Adapter for GPON ONT Router

You will be providing it with low voltage and amps, it will work but the ont will may not work at its full potential and it may put load on the adaptor as well, decreasing life for both.

I have NETLINK HG323RGW GPON ONT supplied by BSNL, it uses 12V,1A, AC-DC power adaptor. ( Power consumption ≤9W )

I also have TP-Link ADSL Router which uses 9V, 0.85A power Adapter. ( TD-W8961ND | 300Mbps Wireless N ADSL2+ Modem Router | TP-Link Laos )

The Adapter cord is short for Netlink GPON.

What will happen if I connect 9V, 0.85A Power adapter to a 12V, 1 A adapter slot ?
The 9V adapter probably won't work with the ONU, I tried it, ONU was stuck on boot loop, I guess 9V was not sufficient for the PON module, so it kept resetting.

You can cut the wire in half and then add additional wire in between. Would be a better solution compared to using a low power adapter.
Or use an extension board and then put the adaptor on the extension board.
