Two different modem makes, yet the same problem. Hence it cannot be blamed on faulty firmware. Have u guys tried contacting the exchange? What was their take on this matter?

Hmm, ok then use bridged mode of the time being and get the modem replaced as soon as its in stock

I am facing a similar problem with my ZXDSL 831 modem.. i don think anyone is trying to access my router using wan ip.. sometimes it gets reset even in 5 mins.. 
I am using bridged mode now..
Some malicius program can access the modem settings. Some program may access the password. Malicious programs changes the IP settings of the ADSL modem. It is good practice to have a complex admin and password and if any settings changed then turn off the internet connection. Reset the modem using the reset button available at back side or at the bottom hole.
