Me too got a mail from airtel "Airtel coming to chennai!!!
A noob question. Why they have first launched in south? Are we guinea pigs?....lol

ya airtel does that to u often  ......when they were abt introduce those shitty BB plans with double speeds and pathetic FUP they experimented that in south only however inertially there was no FUP on them but later Airtel decided its time to make tons of money and BOOM fuked up FUPs imposed.....

wait for vodafone also lol.......airtel and vodafone both look in bad shape..with MNP

Voice call rates will be same as your 2G plan...video calls will be at 5paisa/second .. so it would be Rs3/minute...

Do anybody how much does a voice call or a video call cost on Airtel 3g service? I cannot find anything on Airtel site except their data rates. Airtel CC does not have a clue

Thanks for the info. So the video call rate is much higher than BSNL's rate :iomg:

The problem with Airtel 3G plan is not just the package cost, but the roaming costs. Most of us tend to use data the most while we travel (emails, maps, etc). The roaming charges are 30p/20Kb which is atrocious by any standards. This puts data services on par with Gold. I'd switched to Airtel from Vodafone just because of the impending 3G launch and I am thoroughly disappointed with this pricing. I am ok with the package but not with the roaming charges. In fact it costs Airtel not a penny more to let their users roam nationwide on their network. Yet, they have this atrocious pricing.

true...3G is made for BB on the move..why would I pay 15 RS/MB for the internet?...instead my boss would tell me to stop using 3G on the roaming and stick to ugly EDGE...
see the positive side in it...we can easily escape work while we are travelling.. Thanks AIRTEL, you are our hero...

In Bangalore i am finding 3G coverage to be on a lower side. Only when i am on road, i find my phone logged on to 3g else indoors its on EDGE. I have to manually select 3G and i see 1 or 2 bars. I feel it may take some more time for airtel to switch on all 3G base stations :P
