I have a tech question though, Can a 4G tower be used to carry 2G and 3G signals simultaneously ? I was thinking it in the context that in the near future when 4G becomes common, 3G and 2G will continue to exist for quite some time. So just wanted to know if they install a 4G tower can they run 2g and 3g services on it. ;)

yes, why not. every time a company cannot put new tower

3G speeds are not entirely bad in india though, same is the case in AT&T US as well. my cousin says during business days, speed never crosses beyond 3 mbps. well, they never saw 21 mbps as well. speeds are great only in european countries like denmark, sweden, poland, france

Come to think of it, Sprint has some of the worst speeds on 3G

One of the reason why India is so much relying on Chinese Devices and Hardwares.

I checked out Airtel 4G speed test at kormangala, Bangalore. and its really nice. The ping time to delhi server is 47ms and 5Mbps download speed n 10 Mbps upload speed.

5 Mbps download speed on Airtel 4G are they joking, the max i have got on my Airtel 3G is 7 Mbps. Why would i buy 4G when i am getting same download speeds in Airtel 3G.

I don't understand WTF is this IP based technology if this too gonna provide 5 mbps of download only. Why Indian Broadband speed is not exceeding 10 mbps even after so much of technology evolution ??

If we are getting only 5mbps even with almost 0 customers....imagine the speeds if the number are subscribers are more!LTE should provide ATLEAST 10 mbps to differentiate itself from 3G.

i also asked the airtel person the same thing .. she said there was some issue with the device.. well going there tomorrow for bill payment will check again and post the speed test:)
