bunch of idiots then. these plans are listed on airtel website. of course, these would not be available in all the areas of delhi. but where they have good quality wiring, they are probably providing these packages. i called up airtel today to see if they can provide 4mbps connection at my parent's place. the guy would not listen to me. i wanted them to conduct a feasibility study to ensure that the wiring is capable of delivering 4mbps. i have seen it happen before. they would start the process and eventually find out that they would not be able to deliver the promised speeds. so the user is forced to switch to a lower speed package. he noted down my request eventually. i bet i am not going to get any updates from him unless i bug them again.

I don't understand.ADSL2+ is capable of delivering up to 24 Mbps. If so, then why the hell is airtel saying they can't deliver even 4 Mbps? Maybe they're using some slow ass DSLAMs. :|

Could be one of the reason apart form their Laziness and lack of forward thinking.

^ It also depends on the distance from the switch. Though ADSL2 can support 24Mbps, it can do so only over short distances

quality of wiring is also an issue. the wires in my area are pretty darn old. maybe that's the reason. i was told that they are working on updating the local cabling. could take 6 months.
