I recently got an airtel connection. I live near Chennai.
I have ZyXEL PMG5617-R20B ONT+Router (FTTH)
I want to host a game server.
I asked my friend to ping my IP from his home, but it always times out, regardless of whatever external connection is used. I even tried disabling the router firewall temporarily. Tried DMZ as well.
It seems like Airtel has a firewall in their side?

Port forwarding is NOT greyed out, however, UPnP is. It says I need to connect by wired LAN to access UPnP.
And obviously, he is not able to connect to my server.

By default airtel blocks pinging from WAN side. There is a setting to allow pings, depends on your router, the setting is called "Allow ping from WAN". I have Nokia 2425G and it has it under "Security" section.

PS. you can ping without this setting turned on, you need to ping in the format "ping IP : port" (no space)
