See judiciary in this country is very much outdated and corrupt .. Judges themselves r not in touch with technology .. So they can't understand current technology in context with laid IT laws .. They don't understand the difference between blocking a single url or the whole domain ..

mmm. from what i see. judge only passed a generic order telling ISPs to prevent piracy of x and x movie. no instructions on blocking specific domains. blocking complete domains is something that is being done by the ISP on their own levels. they were asked to block individual links but they blocked complete domains (as per copyrightlabs). i assume xmarks and pastebin were blocked because they might have contained some shares by web users linking to pirated content hosted on other domains.

Tht wht I am telling .. How can u ask the ISPs to prevent piracy??If they want to prevent it.. then they have to ask those websites to remove tht link ..One just can't hold ISPs responsible for stopping piracy .. Its not their work ..

websites operating outside india are not answerable to the laws of our country right? so they do the next best thing. target the service provider. pirate bay is being blocked in europe too based on orders from the courts. and it is being done at the ISP level because they cannot get it shut down by their web hosts. the problem here is not the concept of blocking... it has become a universal thing. the problem is blocking harmless domains which have nothing to do with piracy. and of course blocking complete domains where only a few links on them are relevant to the court order. of course, same shit applies on pirate bay block in europe. entire TPB is not about pirated content. it has links to legit material as well.

Why didnt anyone challenge this order as the ISPs are blocking the entire sites in the name of piracy?

mmm because the orders are not really talking about blocking complete domains? ISPs are at fault here.

and i doubt you can take your ISP to court for blocking a domain considering i do not think there are any laws forcing the ISPs to provide access to all the domains in the world :|

network neutrality is not a law in india at least from what i know.

link-removed is facing the legal issue cos the rules of EU r somewht different .. UK court asked ISPs to ban PB cos its server r located inside EU zone ..So they can ask PB to shutdown directly .. But the laws in sweden keep saving PB from shutting down .. So tht is why they have asked the ISPs to block it ..ISPs in US itself don't block any torrent site .. and many of them r located in US itself .. Its just tht FBI etc who take action against the domain and shut them down .. They don't ask ISPs to do it ..For example one just can't ask the banks to shutdown cos there is some black money also deposited in it .. They find tht particular account and seal the account itself .. and catch the one who used and deposited tht black money ..

well banks have enough security measures to ensure that they do not store black money. for example, they ask you for your PAN Number. larger transactions to your account also require you to give your PAN number. and i am sure that indian banks would give relevant information if asked by the Income Tax department. the problem with TPB is that they do not respond to demands made by media companies to remove torrents related to pirated content because they obey the laws relevant in their own country. so essentially you are dealing with a rogue party and you have to take the other way out to block them.
