I think they have done it only in specific Circles. Anyways Its unfair from airtel to do such a thing. They already priced UL connection high and now a limit on that. They should be sued, btw. when comcast did this in USA and was sued and the ISP lost (as far as i know)

1 question (although i didn't read the whole 9 pages of this thread... will go through later) .... would this be applicable only for UL users or even for time-based users ?? (TATA BB for example)

Is Reliance also gonna do something like this?? My connection is down from last 10 days and whenever I call them.. They say "sorry for the inconvenience caused" and then I get a call from the Rapid resolution Team in Mumbai.. They always assure me that my connection would be up in another 1-2 hrs.. But its already 10 days since am without the Internet at home.. My Tata Indicom Walky is a life saviour for me..

i believe that if your net is down for more than 7 days they will pay you for downtime.
anyways airtels f*** use policy sets a precedent which will be followed by other isps.

Well its the case every month, The connection goes down for at least 10-12 days.. And its me who have to call them and remind that “Please make sure you are not adding this in this months Billing” I don’t even remember when was the last time when I pad 799+tax to Reliance.. Every month its close to 600/-..

If they are going to put the cap on the download limit and then they should also decrease the monthly rental .. I will disconnect the connection and don’t need limited download ..

So explain why is Airtel shooting itself in the leg killing their market...especially in a recession ? Or why dont Coca Cola, whose accumulated profits is probably more than any ISP in the world, not piping free coke to all customers. Maybe they will make you a President of international marketing division :D

You havent answered my question. Instead you ask me to explain Airtel's stupid decision which infact was the point of discussion! You seem to confuse the words Unlimited with Free. The customer pays extra compared to a regular user for the 'Unlimited' privilege.Have you ever been to a buffet? By your logic, people with a larger appetite should be banned from them.

Now take some time to formulate a little more sophisticated and substantial statements instead of just spouting off for the sake of your ego.

They are just screwing up customers and how can they call it "Unlimited Plan" then? :wall:I just hope MTNL doesn't follow up these policies. -.-

The same BS will happen in Delhi shortly. I called Airtel CC asking for installation of a Rs. 649 per month 256 kbps UL connection in my office. I already have an Airtel DSL connection installed in my office and I was looking for another connection to share the load.Support guy told me that minimum cost of UL connection is Rs. 799 per month and that too will have a download limit of 15GB per month followed by a downgrade in download speed. I asked how much is that downgrade gonna be, he wasn't sure about that. :frown:

comcast has 250gb limit and was the first isp to do it then many isps in USA did it and now in India it was followed.250gb is a lot different than 15 gb for 256k users

here is the com cast post
