Wanted to know if Fair Usage Policy is really enforced on the new plans coz earlier 100GB limit on 1mbps unlimited plans was never enforced.Request to all members...to kindly post there views if there speed are reduced to 256kbps or not after crossing the Fair Usage Policy limit on there respective plans.

Then how come they've been so merciful wih me..? (I'm NOT complaining :P)

I think FUP wont apply for auto upgraded plans(by AIRTEL). If u choose any other plan after this upgrade then you will fell into their FUP trap.

AIRTEL made their plans impractical for new customers I visited their website to apply for new broadband connection but after reading 15 GB fair usage limit on 1Mbps unlimited plan I drop my idea to take airtel connection until that limit is increased to 100GB (atleast)

I agree with you all that Airtel messed up big time with their Broadband services and newly announced Plans with FUP.Even if at all they wanted to put some kind of restriction on ppl who use excessive bandwidth, they should have put some kind of slab system in place i.e.1000 kbps speed till 25 GB768 kbps speed from 25-50 GB512 kbps speed from 50-75 GB256 kbps speed from 75-100 GB.Though I am not in favour of any kind of restrictions on bandwidth....but whoever in Airtel came up with the new FUP...don’t use Internet other than checking mails, I guess...lol

but thats where it gets complicated, like i said i had crossed it in the subsequent month and maybe one more time after the upgrade... but now no matter how much i download i do not cross it.

now with these new plans of airtel.. does nt it look worse than bsnl or any other isp for tht matter...

The new FUPs are making me tear my hair out. If Airtel with their ~15Tbit/s of international capacity thinks they have to implement such low FUPs, what chance do we have? Or should I remain suspicious that they're just being greedy, what with their costs probably being a whole lot lower.

I still maintain that Airtel should get rid of all speed tiers and just charge for data - the speed will be whatever the line can handle (ADSL or ADSL2+):

[*]5GB: Rs 400
[*]10GB: Rs 500
[*]15GB: Rs 600
[*]20GB: Rs 700
[*]25GB: Rs 800
[*]50GB: Rs 1200
[*]75GB: Rs 1600
[*]100GB: Rs 2000
[*]125GB: Rs 2400
[*]150GB: Rs 2800
[*]200GB: Rs 3500
If they want they could have some "low speed" unlimited plans, for example:

[*]256kbit/s: Rs 599
[*]512kbit/s: Rs 799
[*]1Mbit/s: Rs 999
[*]2Mbit/s: Rs 1999
[*]4Mbit/s: Rs 3499
If their costs are lower than mine (which is entirely likely), then I think these would be feasible.

I hope they increase the FUP limits and that's it. The plans are good if the FUP is increased.
