Yeah give me "unlimited download and upload" for even $10000 a month and I will host all the websites in the world for pittance. :rofl:There is no such technology which can provide "unlimited" data transfer. That word has been misused by lot of providers including hosting providers. Probably a better definition would be to call it as "uncapped usage billing"

we dont pay $$$ just like that.Read the Airtel financial statements.Thier profits are in thousands of croresdont throw me that excuse

The profit is from different services like cellphone, DTH , Broadband. etc.You want to rob Paul to pay Peter! Cannot quantify whether Broadband made those millions .why not give unlimited outgoing calls on Airtel or provide DTH Free of cost ? unlimited movies on demand download , which you can record also !

It's a good thing that I've retained my Old BSNL 256 Unlimited. If Airtel CC tells me to upgrade to the new 256 with the 3Gb Monthly limit, I'll surrender the line :D The existing Airtel 128KBPS connection serves as a backup for the DataOne connection. I need only unlimited, who has time to count bytes all day!! Let's wait and watch.

Are you even aware of the speeds that countries like South Korea and Japan provide? And you are here whining about the 'unlimited' downloads from a 1mbps UL plan. :hysterical: :O

So explain why is Airtel shooting itself in the leg killing their market...especially in a recession ? Or why dont Coca Cola, whose accumulated profits is probably more than any ISP in the world, not piping free coke to all customers. Maybe they will make you a President of international marketing division :D

So I'd been noticing my 384kbps connection speed going down to 256kbps over the last 2 days. I saw the thread here about new plans for Karnataka and thought I had been automatically downgraded to a 256kbps unlimited plan from my current 384kbps unlimited plan. So I called up the customer care and they told me that they have introduced a new policy that when a user reaches 25GB of download in some period, their service will be degraded.

Obviously, as any paying customer and a fan of the unlimited service would do, I lost my cool over the phone :@. I have since registered a complaint with them (5 mins ago).

I know this throws a lot of questions:

[*]When did they roll out this new policy?
[*]Were the customers informed of this new policy?
[*]How reliable is this "data collection" method which clocks 25GB at times?
[*]Why 25GB? Why not 10GB or 50GB?
[*]Is there anyway for me to bypass this policy?
[*]Is this policy on a trial period right now? Are they ready to retract this policy if they face customer ire?
[*]What are we as consumers going to do about this considering they are not ready to budge from their stand?
[/list]And probably a whole lot more of these. I will keep this group apprised as I hear from Airtel, In the meantime - all my dreams about Airtel being this great company who cares about it's customers, have come crashing down.

I swear to talk shit about Airtel going forward and ask people to stay away and try other options before diving in to Airtel. You never know what lies out there - it may be good.

Hmm... lemme go see now how that WiMax antenna on my apartment building rooftop works :cool2:

may be u can try calling once more and verify. downgrading speed to 256 is wrong but atleast they havent followed sify and started charging for extra MBs per day.u still get unlimited downloads but at reduced speed.

wow ! whats wrong with this company??..its on a serious downward trend !so how does this new policy work? is it a reduction by fixed percentage ie 128 kbps or do all untld plans revert to 256 K incase of overshooting the download limit?can they implement this for old customers? ..somebody will have to read the fine print...
