people are indeed hogging their network but the the user base of unlimted users has also increased. Airtel which has to upgrade its network is not doing so. Instead Airtel has decided this short cut which is definitely going to cut short Airtel in the long run.now when enquired about Airtel Fair Looting Policy, Airtel sales and customer rep lecture users about "responsible usage of broadband". One rep even went on to blame sutdents that they were using the net 24x7 downloading all kinds movies including "blue films" and all sorts of video clips, pirated software and games. So it has become Airtel's duty to tell users as to how much they can use the net for. Airtel has now become the moral police of the net. We have the likes of muthaliks who are the moral police in the outside world and Airtel has taken the role of moral police in the cyber world. :S

A small update. I had registered a complain with DOT and got a call from the Airtel Nodal office today. I was asked for my number, but I was hesitant at first. Then I was told that it was for forwarding the complain to the decision making authorities. So I gave the details. Lets see how it goes now.

That rep ought to be sacked !

Goes to the extent as to judge what paying customers download when there is no contractual restriction to this effect.

Should enquire the reps name and saw it mentioned empoyee# before beginning a conversation with these types. They after all know exactly who you are and as mentioned what even you download :frown:

Today i received a letter from Airtel stating that due to some users misusing the bandwidth, they did minor modification in the plans.......But the important thing in that letter is they haven't mentioned FUP or Fair Usage Policy any where. From this i got some points.1.why they have given it in English not in regional language.2.They said i agreed & signed the terms & conditions, so they have right to do anything.I said give me proof. They said it is my responsibility to have a copy of the form i signed. So, a requested a copy, they said they will send me in mail.Guys u also ask a copy of the terms & conidition...3. The letter is dated on 13/2/09 & i received on 28/2/09.Debate is going on how with out my conformation they have changed the plan on 7th & i refusing to pay this month bill or pay as per 128kbps plan.4.In the new modified structure they mentioned as "Download speed till 15GB- NA & Download speed after 15GB -128kbps." I am asking, if NA then i should be getting 2mbps speed or maximum speed instead of 256kbps.(I know its wrong, but lets confuse them). So i request all others to also ask as doubts & questions to CC giving CC constant headache. Some one understand this & have new questions reply me.:whistle::whistle:

LOL, if u try to confuse them then they will counter confuse u and say NA also means not available!! i.e. no download speed till 15GB :P

they will say u signed it now face it!

How many folks here have got the letter from Airtel ? i got one today..This letter like all official communication is fabricated with things like how they thank you, for being such a valuable customer, how they keep 'your' best interest in mind,...blah blah...They havnt mentioned the words "Airtel Fair Usage Policy", but they start by saying that a very small number of customers on home 2222 plus plan use an excessive amount of bandwidth, then they go on to say how they r making minor changes to prevent this...In their modified structure they have mentioned download speed before threshold - 1 mbps ; after threshold - 512 kbps ; but the pigs have not mentioned what the bloody heck is the threshold ?? They call this "speed rationalization"...They end the letter by wishing me warm freaking regards...abt 3 bloody yrs with Airtel and this is what I get ...I am sick and tired of blasting the call center guys..i will scan this letter and post it here..sometime in the evening...but I am at a loss how to take this forward .......

Im using the Airtel 512Kbps/Unlimited package and my download transfer speed is 50-52Kbps which is 80% of the promised bandwidth as per TRAI regulations. It is stuck at these speeds, none less or more.
Because, after the 23rd Feb (AFUP came in effect to my connection), I have been getting only 80% of the bandwidth and after 40GB(AFUP) I will be getting only 50% of the bandwidth. Prior to 23rd, I was getting speeds of consistent 67Kbps. Im not sure how to tackle this situation of 80% bandwidth. CC are a bunch of retards. I have spoken to one of the Managers and he confirms the same, that Airtel would be able to provide only 80% of the bandwidth. Pls advise how to go about this. Can I take legal action?

Thanks in advance. :)
