It's on page 12 (of the Delhi edition, at least), or you can see said article online at Caught in the Net of slow broadband - The Times of India

Airtel is going way down. I'm on Turbo 1299 plan which is supposed to offer 512kbps in day, 1mbps in night with FUP of 100gb. In last week of August, speed was doubled for both day and night. So to make sure everything is right with FUP I called them on Friday to ask what's happening. To my shock, he told me FUP is now 15GB. Having known Indian customer care staff for sometime, I confused him with limit. Then he said it's 25gb. I was not convinced so he told me I can write an email.I dropped an email. And again called them yesterday. This time some fellow tells me plan has been revised. It's now 1mbps in day, 2mbps in night till 25gb. After that it's 512kbps in day and 1mbps in night. This makes sense to me.BUT, last night I was getting 1mbps and today morning it was 512kbps. lol.And today I got the call in response to email I sent on Friday, this fellow tells me I'll get 1mbps in both day and night till 25gb and 512kbps after that.Phew! I'm paying Rs1400+ every month and now my plan has been revised without informing me and me accepting it. Above all, when I ask about details I get different answers all the time.Don't know whom to contact. I asked customer care to connect me to supervisor, stupid fellow gave me they don't have facility to transfer calls. WTF!This is just lame. Airtel, you're going way down.

^ Simply switch. And everyone switching, make sure you stress the F word while talking to the retention team.

Add me to your same issue. Today (Tuesday) I am getting 1 Mbps in day and night but i would like to know why in the hell they doubled the speeds and increased our curiosity in having the same speed lol. But finally putting a full stop with the word "FUP"

I have also faced the same problem when i received the mail by Airtel saying :

Dear Customer,

We thank you for being a valuable member of the Airtel family.

As a constant endeavor to offer you a great Broadband experience, we at Airtel are continuously upgrading our network to deliver you a world class service and experience.

We have analyzed the current bandwidth utilization trends of our Broadband customers and have observed that a very small number of users are using excessive amount of bandwidth. Such excessive bandwidth usage can result in an impaired broadband experience for you. We are committed to providing the best Broadband experience for our customers and in this endeavor we intend to stop abuse of connections by a few customers.

Further, to enhance and enrich the Broadband experience of all our customers in this dynamic, rapidly evolving, fast growing medium of internet, we are introducing a Fair Usage Policy. According to the policy you will continue to get your current speed of 1 Mbps till 25 GB of usage in a bill cycle. Post reaching 25 GB your download speed will be 512 Kbps for the remaining days of the bill cycle.
All other charges & rates in the plan remain unchanged and your plan will continue to be unlimited

Kindly note, the speed rationalization on crossing the download threshold would be for the remainder of that bill cycle only. The speed would be automatically restored to the original level at the start of next bill cycle.

We also recommend that you take the following precautions to ensure a seamless broadband experience:
· Please switch off your modem/router after use
· Please ensure that your PC has an updated anti-virus protection suite
· If you are using a Wi-Fi network please ensure that it is protected by an encryption key to prevent unauthorized access and misuse

For any queries please call us at 121 from your Airtel Fixed Line or 44444121 from other phones. You can also write to us at [email protected]. Kindly mention your Airtel Fixed line number along with STD code in the subject line while you send an email to us for faster resolution.

Warm Regards,

Airtel Telemedia Services

It's very ridiculous when I have been assured the download limit 100 GB.
Airtel are desperately cheating with their customers.

Need to take some strict action against Airtel & if needed so please create on page in Facebook by opposing FUP policy.

HOpe that will help to open Airtel eyes.

Rgds,
Mohit

I m having Swift 1099 by paying 100 Rs. extra I have been promised to get the speed of 1 MBPS till the download of 100 GB data. Now they have revised the plan. Such a scusker.

After living peacefully with my unlimited 1mbps connection for months, now this very irritating 256kbps connection has been forced upon me (after 15GB) downloads. What is 15GB? If downloading TV serials and movies, 15 GB is achieved in mere 2 days. The remaining 28 days I am having to struggle at 256kbps!!! At 256kbps we can't even watch youtube streaming!Dear Airtel, at the very least please give us 384kbps. 256 is pittance. Why would we go in for 1MBPS or 2MBPS connections if 99% of the time we have to live with 256kbps connection??????? From which angle is it making sense? Please, give us a break, or we the customer will give you the break.
