I heard on CNBC couple of days back TRAI is going to introduce National Broadband Policy soon.
Anyone has any idea , may be that policy talks of FUP

There has already been a Broadband plan in India since 2004. This will be a revision of that plan, but it's not legislature: it tells us what the government wants, not what the operators must provide.

Mccarley you are right ISP would not be pushed to follow it but what will happen is that BSNL and MTNL will follow the new suggestions there by private player would follow them........... It's sad that things happen like this in India.I remember the early days of broadband when it was not that regulated, only after BSNL started providing affordable 2 Mbps plans that we could dream of those speed otherwise we user stuck with 128 - 512 kbps out of which 512 kbps was treated by ISP as an ultra fast connection.

FUP'd on 2nd Nov . 7 days into the new billing cyclethats it.. calling reliance today , once that is set, i'm done with airtel

alright , so last night i called 198 and complained about the speeds going down .. didnt expect much , was probably out of desperation/angergot a call today morning saying they were increasing the speeds againno idea what happened .. i didnt really threaten to switch to reliance (i wont threaten , i'll just leave when i'm done with airtel which at this rate could be very soon)anyway , its back to 2mbps for now if it stays this way for the month then great .. if it goes down at any point, i have enquired about reliance in my area (service is good , talked to the local guy , seemed nice enough) and will switch

Finally, I think I'm done with Airtel.

Since a week, my speed has dropped to 256 Kbps. So, conclusively, I'm paying 1099 INR + taxes per month for 256 kbps. Earlier it was 1 Mbps. This is unacceptable.

So, I sent an email to the Nodal officer which is as follows:

Hi,

Few months ago, someone from the Nodal Officer's dept. had helped me in upgrading my broadband speed to 1 Mbps.

My original broadband plan was: 512 Kbps during the day (till 20GB, 256 Kbps thereafter) and 1 Mbps during the night (No FUP during the night).

Day: 6 AM to 10 PM
Night: 10 PM to 6 AM

Few months ago, the above broadband plan was upgraded as per Airtel's free speed upgrade offer.

Upgraded plan that was promised to me by someone from the Nodal Officer's dept.: 1 Mbps during the day (till 20GB, 512 Kbps thereafter) and 1 Mbps during the night (No FUP during the night). I did get upgraded speed for about 3 months. But, since the last 10-15 days, my day-time and night-time speed has dropped to 256 Kbps. So, conclusively, I'm paying Airtel Rs. 1099 + taxes per month for 256 Kbps speed. This is unacceptable. Either you revert my broadband speed to what I was promised [1 Mbps during the day (till 20GB, 512 Kbps thereafter) and 1 Mbps during the night (No FUP during the night)] or you disconnect my Airtel broadband connection and take your modem away.

Looks like Airtel is testing my patience.

- A disappointed/dissatisfied customer.

If they fix my speed, then great else I'll migrate to Reliance. :|
