Facing a lot of disconnections ever since the plans were upgraded to 4 MBPS since last week of June. Complained twice, and surprisingly, after a few days received the sms that the problem has been resolved, even without anyone visiting me. What sucks more is that the problem still continues...

I was getting disconnected frequently last night, so you're not alone.

Hmmmmmmmm airtel CC is a little crappy from last one week.....broadband is down....hmmm somethings going on at airtel....maybe change of plans..!?

ME ME ME. God dude, I have been having sleepless nights because of this. Has been happening for the past 5-6 days. I don't exactly get disconnected, because I can see in the router settings that I am connected and have an IP address from Airtel, but I get broken pings (I usually ping google or bing) and about only 5-6% of the pings will go through, rest will fail. Even those which go through have high latency.I have been trying to download Windows Server 2008 edition which I got for free from MSFT (MSDNAA) to install on my PC, but even with the slightest connection hiccup, it stops and starts all over again. Also, this will keep happening for about half an hour, and will then get fixed automatically. Usually happens at nights. In this half an hour period, it does not matter how many times I physically reboot the router, the connection either won't connect, if it will, it remain 'broken' as explained above.

exactly the same behavior here. link light is on. rebooting the modem does not help.

They must be getting ideas from the power supply department.....unscheduled outages to save bandwidth

OK, I called up Airtel (at 198, didn't bother to mention any details to the call center people, they are morons anyway). The dude came within 1 hour of my complaint, which is surprising (I thought their customer service had gone to shit).Anyway, this dude is somewhat knowledgeable and mostly knows his stuff. He was able to navigate around Mac OS X, and find Terminal.app where he ran a few ping tests.Obviously the issue is of random disconnects, and as fate would have it no disconnections occurred for the 30 minutes he was at my place. In the end, since I have my own router, he blamed the issue on the router. And said that Airtel cannot provide support for third-party routers. I have Linksys WAG54G2, which is a pretty decent router IMO, and I don't think the router is the issue.I also told him that a lot of other people are facing this issue. Specifically mentioned Sushubh's case who is living in Gurgaon. So I told him its not even a localized issue. Now, the thing to see is if this problem occurs in sync, that is if the outage occurs at the same time for everyone. So to anybody who is facing the same issue as us, I'd request you to sync your computer's clock with an Internet server (if you don't do that already) and please note down the exact time range at which the next outage/disconnection occurs. And then post the range(s) here. If it hits us simultaneously, at least we can have a case with Airtel that this issue is not on our end.He did not know anything about Airtel upgrading/modifying their backend.

I came to know Airtel is having some problem. I too face very shot down time like 10 min in 2 r 3hrs. Not u alone. Ping to gate way n DNS works good, but ping to any website stops, there might have some srious issue

same here in chd. link light is on but getting disconnected randomly. in my case restarting modem solves the problem
