Hello All,I got the 256KBPs unlimited broadband connection from airtel. It works fine, 27-30KBPs download speed through out the day. My problem is that when I play games (Rise of Nations) online. the modem resets after around half an hour or so. Because of this I get disconnected from the game and it sucks.. Any idea as how to fix the problem?Modem details:Beetel 220BXI ADSL2 + ModemAll ports required for the game are forwarded from the router to my PC.Thanks

Maybe it is getting too hot? Does the modem reset or the DSL link loose sync?

Nope its not getting hot. It reboots. I can see the link and data lights go off and come back on similar to what happens when I switch on the modem.

Do you have a good UPS or voltage regulator atleast ??? bcos even if voltage fluctuates the DSL modem will reset..

a bit off-topic but can u tell me ur experience..i mean is it smooth to play online games like COD4 or Rise of Nations?

You can check the SNR margin values in 192.168.1.1/main.html, in ADSL statistics. If the SNR margin for either DL or UL is low (say less than 15), then that could be the cause. But this may not explain why the disconnect happens only after half an hour and only while playing online games (is that the case)?It could very well be power issue or plain modem HW issue.

Thanks for the replies..

I told the problem to airtel and they replaced the modem the same day..
Now its working smoothly

Funny tough that they said the problem may be because I had used USB to connect sometimes back..

@Siddharth1
Games run very smooth. Of course depends on the server you are connecting to.
