Thanks Calamity, it worked , really thankfull for your efforts and assistance. Thanks again.......One more simple question..Will my WAN ip change , even if I don't restart my Modem??In the settings I saw "Leased for 24 hours" setting, it might have something to do ......I think

Theoretically your ip will change even if the router is permanently on. Yes it has something to do with the leased time but I was under the impression that the server assigned a lease time.I am not an IT guy so maybe one of the network guys around here can give you a better answer.

yes the IP changes if the lease on it expires...its generally set by the ISP on the server side.

i found ur discussion useful to know more about the small grey box on top of my syste. but i still have a problem setting up my webserver. i cant find the NAT menu in the Advanced Settings menu. also in WAN edit screens i cant find the settings as u hav told. please help me.

Hello cyberram,

I am not sure what the problem is but it may be due to the fact that you are using your modem in bridged mode

Change this to PPP over Ethernet(PPPOE) and then take it forward from there.
You will need to enter your username and password.
Leave everything else as it it is.

Let me know what happens

 He tried everything but ports are not getting forwarded... Crazy, if its Norton Internet Security Suite 2007, please uninstall it or turn off the firewall, it blocks all ports ... :).... telnet modem & then do NAT, new firmware doesn't have NAT option on GUI interface... its only in Command interface... :D

ya fw's nowadays r concentrating more onmaking the user's life diff rather than on blocking viruses..............i had bloody mcaffe and when attacked by virus it got itself corrupted...wud'nt uninstall and wud'nt let me install any other av.....and airtel ppl hv bought its license .....gadhe  !!!!!!!and ya disabling ur fw may do the trick

I have Norton Antivirus 2006 and I disabled the auto protect but still the port dosen't get forwarded.
