Thanks a lot for the reply but I have some doubts.
First is that the setup U r telling me is when we set the Beetel Modem in the PPPoE mode or by setting it in Bridge mode?
I did the following setup in the Bridge mode.
Do this step by step:
(Just to let you know 192. or 172. are both same and make no difference. I am giving the example in 192. because I am more accustomed to use these IPs.)
Agreed. My reason for going to 172 notation was to keep the Beetel Modem and
Netgear Router in different IP networks so that I can access both of them.(I was experimenting and ofcourse my thinking was wrong).
Make your IPs in order first. Go to your Beetel Page's advanced page (main.html). Go to Advanced Setup >> LAN and Set IP address to 192.168.1.1. Check Enable UPnP. Select Enable DHCP Server and set Starting IP to 192.168.1.2 and Ending to 192.168.1.254.
Where in the Enable UPnP in Beetel Page??? If possible please provide a screen shot as I was not able to locate the same
Go to your Netgear Page. Go to Lan IP Setup. Set IP address to 192.168.1.2. Check Use Router as DHCP Server and set Starting IP to 192.168.1.3 and Ending to 192.168.1.254. Go To UPnP and check Turn UPnP On.
This is fine.
Make your computer's IP 192.168.1.3 and default Gateway to 192.168.1.1. Make similar changes to your
laptops if you want to use UTorrent on them also. If you don't, better leave them to Obtain an IP address automatically.
First, I didnt understand the logic of making both the modem and the router as the DHCP servers.
Anyways, here you are asking me to put the default gateway was 192.168.1.1 which is the IP of beetel modem. I am not able to ping it and hence after putting it as the default gateway, I am unable to access the internet.
Can you figure out where is the catch?
