Airtel is continuously distributing XStream Fiber Advertisement Papers in our area.

But when I call 121 or ask the Sales Executive about the Fiber, they either say in 2 Months Airtel Fiber will come in your area or else they say no information.

They also say that the current maximum speed supported is 40Mbps only.

They Advertisement Papers they are distributing is having 100Mbps as minimum and 1Gbps as maximum.

What is this happening?

@Sushubh Do you know anything about it?

They also say that the current maximum speed supported is 40Mbps only.
In this case, it is VDSL not FTTH. Also they might upgrade it to FTTH in 2 months if VDSL is there right now. Verify by looking at the wiring and setup in your area for confirmation.

Yes, I currently have VDSL only. VDSL is available in my area from last 3-4 years.

I don't see any wiring or boxes of Airtel Fiber yet.(I know the color and the identification of the Airtel Fiber boxes since I have seen them in other area which is 5km away from my house).

How do you know it will be coming in 2 months? (Since, Call Center guys are saying the same to me but they are not 100% sure).

@gomfi Actually they are ready to upgrade it in my area, but they will then change my plan to 799 from 499 (Current plan). But I am using ACT as my primary connection so I denied this upgrade. They gave a timeline of 3 months last time in July. I don't know the exact date when they approached for upgrade as I wasn't at home at that moment.

Oh, Good. ACT is really good. But, I am still not clear how can we be sure that they are going to upgrade it in coming 2 months?

What is the basis for this information?

Patiently waiting is the best you can do currently.
As far as I remember, previously they gave me timeline of 1 year which I knew was unlikely to happen, but as soon as ACT launched in my area, I guess they came back to their senses. Also the guy who came to repair my connection showed me a Whatsapp group where they receive the messages of upgrading to FTTH area wise.

I have been waiting patiently from 2 years. JioFiber is already available in my area and I have their connection. But, I want to disconnect it (waiting for them to reply for my email for disconnection).

I need good upload speeds and for that I need Airtel FTTH.

Is there any way I could know if Airtel FTTH is coming in my area (jugaadu way)?

Where do you live though?

I live in Jaipur.
The best way to know if FTTH is really coming is by getting in touch with the guy who does repairs in your area, because they are the ones who setup and manage the wirings. Hope that your area gets some good competition, then it's bound to come soon 😉

JioFiber is the only true FTTH is available in our area.

I did ask him (the guy who fixes connection) That dude told me last year in January that Airtel Fiber will come in 6 months, I waited for 6 months, he then again said 6 months. I waited another 6 months. I asked him 2-3 weeks back when is Airtel Fiber coming. He said 2-3 months.

Don't know how I should believe him after being fooled for 1 year this way.

I asked other guy (temp. replacement), he said there are no plans of Fiber in this area and there is no work going on for Airtel Fiber in this area.

Don't even know, whom to trust.

I was satisfied with JioFiber until they changed the policy and made it 1:10 (Upload Speeds 10% of Download Speeds). So, ultimately Airtel FTTH is what I need.

Here in my area, Airtel FTTH has finally arrived, i.e., wiring has been done and I am eagerly waiting for their call for upgrade. In October, when a field technician was working in my area, I had asked about the the fiber landing in my area and he had predicted 2 months, so his prediction was quite true. You can even ask the contractor people who are laying fiber in other areas about when they are laying in your area. No need to waste time in asking CC people, who will be always clueless about it or just give some time frame so that you hold on to their VDSL/DSL for some more time.

Meanwhile, I am also quite happy with ACT and once Airtel is upgraded to fiber, I will decide which to keep as main connection and which to keep as backup.
