I was about to switch from Airtel to another operator in April 2013. At that time they gave me a 2 year advance rental plan. I agreed to stick to Airtel with this plan as it is my secondary number and used only while travelling.
The terms of the plan were clearly mentioned in the next bill. It said
"Advance Rental 24 Months" Starting Date : 18/04/2013 Ending Date 17/04/2015.
Now suddenly in Sept after completing just 16 months they put in a monthly rental of 199.
I called the call center, the person had no clue and put me through to his senior. The senior also understood that if they have already charged advance rental till April 2015 they cannot charge it again. It's like paying 6 months advance rental for a house and then after 3 months the landlord says that is over you have to start paying rent again. He told me to write a mail to [email protected].
I wrote a mail, in response I get a mail saying that that plan is discontinued and they have moved me to another plan. But what happened to the rent for the period till April 2015 which already paid. It's fine you discontinue the plan, but that can happen only after the current plan rental already paid expires.
This is the height of frauds Airtel is doing now.
I will just move to a different operator or convert it to a pre-paid .
