Yeah, this year people seem much more scared of rains don't they?I'm stuck in office as colleagues who've left tell me all roads out of Town are jampacked. Crazy traffic all day today:wall:
If you are headed to US or UK, then you can buy SIM cards from Ebay. In Heathrow, Gatewick and JFK you can buy it on Airport itself but like most things they will charge anything.
With that SIM you get local US/UK number.
You now have two options:
1. Enable Voice mail on local number that says call me on +44 or +1 number for next xx weeks.
OR
2. Before leaving India, enable call forwarding to ISD numbers on your landline/cell. And forward calls to US number.
I've used a local sim abroad before but never forwarded my airtel number to it. Will forwarding option work on the airtel sim once iam abroad?
Its easy to check, forward your call to any +1800 number and try calling your cell.Did not work for me at first and had to call cust care to enable that.
Not talkin abt that..if i dont have the foreign number before i leave India and i intend to buy it abroad..then will airtel sim allow me to enable the "call forwarding option" when i am roaming in a foreign network..?
keep ur mobile at ur home..no need for intl roaming.
buy intl number in india OR reach UK/US and ask ppl at home to do forwarding.
if u want to test all that.. u can get free UK/US number from FREE IP Calling with IPKall and test using SIP software.
once u get US number from that site.. set fwd on ur phone to that number.. and call ur home number from another phone.. it shud ring on ur SIP software.
