Airtel now putting Static IP customers in CGNAT if they use PPPoE

Earlier if someone was subscribed to static IP on airtel xstream fiber, they would get Public IPv4 even if they used PPPoE to connect. So we had 2 options to use internet:

1. PPPoE: You would get a Public IPv4 and an IPv6.
2. Static IP: You would use your assigned IPv4. No IPv6 in this case. ☹

Now the first option gives a CGNAT IPv4 (100.x.x.x in my case) along with a /64 IPv6. Can others check and confirm? You may need to disconnect PPPoE and reconnect to see changes.

I used to avoid using my assigned static IPv4 for normal usage for privacy. But now, the only option is either public IP or privacy, not both. You can still connect both simultaneously and set up routing to use either of the interfaces (PPPoE or static IP) depending on traffic.

I used to get a public IPv4 on PPPoE, atleast till like 2 days ago, when I last checked.

I still get public IPv4 in PPPoE. All my wifi clients are in PPPoE session and public exposed services uses static IP connection.

I was also getting public IPv4 till yesterday. But now they seem to have shifted to CGNAT if I use PPPoE.

Has anyone tried changing plan with static IP? The speed remains the same for me for both upgrade and downgrade but the PPPoe speed changes instantly.

they shifted to CGNAT some months back and it will gradually be the standard across their networks. if you want a public IP you need to pay extra

Is this case for bridge mode?
Because I amusing Airtel's ONT without bridge mode in static IP.

@Chip this thread about for the people who already opted static IP by paying extra. So far, the PPPOE session gave public IP only for all the static IP customers.

@Gaurav15 it may be possible they are starting to move static IP customers also to CGNAT. Somewhere I read recently Airtel providing two different internal VLANs for internet after opting for static IP. Pppoe session established in one vlan was providing CGNAT and another vlan was giving public IP.

@hariselio If what you read is correct, you can check what VLANs are available to you if you have realtek based ONU like VSOL V2802RH or HSGQ/ODI SFP with the telnet command
