This is the funniest news I have ever read about iPhone:

I was expecting some technical boasting from Airtel about unlocking iPhone.

And all they talk about is...
:yahoo:

if a hacker manages to unlock they won't have access to 'Airtel Live',
they won't be able to download wallpapers, ringtones from Airtel,
they won't be able to use 'super secure application' like........ mChek to manage his Airtel account...

Either the indiatimes reporter is really dumb, or Airtel technical people dumber... or both!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the sad state of tech reporting in Indian newspapers...

This article is one more gem in the crown.

For now, I am just ROFL.

ha ha ha ha .. god please forgive him for his innocence ... he don't know what he is talking about .. strong sw major like Microsoft or other also can't claim like this ..

what if they record IMEI number of each iPhone they sell and only allow those IMEI numbers on their network?can IMEI number be changed?voice calls can be plenty so tracking voice packets wud be very tough job but 'airtel live' users wud be very very less compared to that.thats why he is specifically saying that, voice calls can be made but not airtel live or airtel specific apps

Where there is will there is way and this is esp true for crackers :)

Yeah iPhone IMEI can be changed thanks to "ZIBRI" and unlock/jailbreak app for 3G is underdevelopment and in final stages as per him...

Airtel needs to fire these so-called 'techies' who said this! :D

awesome NEWS !! I fell on the floor laughing :-) Oh and to think as if everybody is dying to use Airtel Live ! :yahoo:And what is Airtel going to do if people BUY an unlocked phone (available in a few countries, though expensive ~500 Euros) and then put in an Airtel Sim Card ? Are they going to say sorry, we dont want you on our n/w ?I currently have an iPhone 2G. I unlocked it myself and I am on Airtel :) I have been on Airtel for few years and using the iphone for 4 months now.So what are they now going to do to me? tell me f*** off ?Ofcourse tech reporting in India is utter rubbish. I wrote a comment yesterday on some iphone article in Eco Times. It was so rubbish....they claimed the iphone 3G can be unlocked if the phone sold in India comes on firmware v1.1.2 ! This firmware was released a billion years ago.......and was for iphone 2G !!!!cheers.

^ thats true..they are giving impression to common public that iPhone is genius phone..its the first 3g phonenokia had 3g phone ages agoalmost all nseries phones are 3g enabled,if i'm not wrongbut thanks to Apple sratgegy to name iphone 2nd version as IPHONE 3G..which made so many crap reporters in india feeling like 3g is a great thing like its coming from heaven
