Airtel & Vodafone forcing customers to upgrade to 4G SIM immediately

No clue. The SMS just said that the existing SIM 'will expire' on so and so date and you need to upgrade.

I think their SIM Card technology is too old for their Upgraded network. So they are asking all of it's subscriber to upgrade SIM card nothing else.

I think if you on 4G sim then they pay 1% revenue as license fee for 2300mhz bwa spectrum. While for 3G subscribers it is 3-5%.

Jio pays 1% only.

Yeah I got the same message for my SIM in Pune with deadline Oct 2nd, but just a couple of days before the deadline (I didnt upgrade it) they moved deadline to Oct 15th now.

I think they are pressuring their users to migrate to 4G network so they can claim larger 4G userbase or revenue or whatever, dont know what is the real motive.
