errm they already have kindle fire. second generation fire should be out later this month or next. smartphone market is the hot one. if they can come up with an unlocked device at a decent price point, it could shake up the US market. though, Amazon's video streaming services are not going to be that lucrative on a smartphone model compared to a tablet. they could probably bundle access to Amazon Prime at a discount with mobile plans. remains to be seen if amazon would launch their own mvno as well.
i am more interested in kindle fire 2. google nexus 7 has more or less made it an outdated product. Amazon however has a major edge when it comes to content offerings. google play store simply is no match for amazon video and music services.remains to be seen what they are doing with fire 2. would it be based on ice cream sandwich? what else they have in store for us and of course google google nexus 7 could become a generation old model within a couple of weeks time! of course Appleipad mini is also more or less confirmed for launch later this year. google has very little time to enjoy the praises for nexus 7.
mhm yeah. kindle fire is based on android gingerbread. and the smartphone would be the same. Amazon has their own app store for android devices. it is their choice of mobile platform.
