Answer me something, There are couple of DVD players in the market which gives the option of playing .avi format from pen drive. so whats the main diff between DVD player & flash tv (Dont tell me DVD player can play the disc)

Dont know about this thing , but in case of the WD media player - HD resolution , plays mkv's , flacs , can play external HDD's , most DVD players with USB ports dont .

nothing really. but most dvd players have limited support for formats and subtitles when it comes to USB support... maybe new ones have much varied support. but considering most people do not buy or burn DVDs any longer... these devices are going to become more popular.

Yes .srt is supported, there are few other ones also that it supports but i have rarely seen subtitles in those.

I think admin is right.. most DVD players support limited format, may or may not support external hdd, they are far more bulkier if you compare size with this also i heard they have issues with long file names & folders.

well yeah. dvd are not dedicated usb based media players so it's not a perfect alternative. i decided to go for wd hd tv instead of a dvd player with a usb because i had no use for a dvd player which are like anshal said are bulky... look at it this way... a lot of people bought/buy Sony playstation 3 to get access to a cheap blu-ray media player. it works well for most but would lack the capabilities of a dedicated blu-ray player. of course in this case ps3 can receive firmware upgrades while most dvd players have no such option.

dude... where evr dis cool multimedia player is made.... dey r sellin it at less dan half d price f WD tv... n wrks wonders too... frm d above posts i cn c tat u ppl hv nt noticed tat dis samll kool box.. has an option to evn xchange data between the flash drive n d memory cardNot forgetin to mention tat u cn evn attach it to ur projector n play ur presentation wid backgroud music widout d laptop...wat else do u wnt.....
