What happened at the MHA in Delhi?

Too many foreigners :P

Operamanic this exact though came to my mind lsat night, thinking is is even real??? but in summary all we can say is K sera Sera and keep fingers crossed,
if its not we will have helluva story about a helluva con!

That is probably grossly unfair. OK we are spending a lot of time and bytes over here but as long as we have not put down any money in the venture as customers, and I don't believe anyone has, it would not be right to call it a con.

It really astonishes me as to why mg has not started his service in atleast NEW ZEALAND.
There atleast he is not a threat to his own country.

It's not a why, it's a lack of infrastructure... oh, and the fact that I only decided to even do anything in NZ in September 2010, so it only spent about 2-3 weeks on the drawing board before we started putting the pieces of the puzzle together.

You see, I'm competing with the Government's $1.5 billion FTTH project, and most of the companies I've been trying to work with are involved, were involved or were trying to get involved with that. Now that some of those companies know they're not going to be participating in the government project, they're talking to me :)

I've already paid for the installation and splicing at 2 fiber points near my neighbourhood. At the moment I'm awaiting for consent from Environment Waikato to push fiber through the sewerage pipes of my city.

At least I can go out and take photos of the pits where our fiber will meet the existing fiber and prove that it is actually there :)

So, the equipments, including wires etc in NZ, will be exactly same as the one u will build here in INDIA??

Pretty much, yes. A few minor differences, but more or less exactly the same, albeit on a smaller scale (there are 6x as many people in Mumbai as there is in the entirety of my country).

well u have a rough idea when u r going into a country what to expect..its not that u are absolutely taken by surprise and that there are babu's sitting out there just with the sole aim of not allowing u to launch..all we get to hear is country is sh*t..system is sh*t.. there is discrimination and what not..agreed there might be some difficulties but each country has its peculiarities...u have to work with them and get ur job done..u cant put the whole blame on the system when ur own house is not in order. Going by the scenario that has been portrayed as existing in india, one would think that it was impossible to get business done here..

I agree with you that the general tone in the Hayai section of these forums has been one of denigrating the system, the government, the bureaucracy, etc and everything Indian.
I am not trying to defend mgcarley and I cannot gather the details now but the impression I got all along is that the major denigration has been done by most of us Indians ourselves. MCG may have triggered it by intended or unintended statements, but I used to be constantly disappointed by how my fellow Indians have been running down my country.

Heh. You can be sure that I love India as my own. Every country has good points and bad points, but unfortunately the bureaucracy is one of the bad points.

I saw something on BBC World the other day from the CEO of Berggruen Holdings who also suggested that India needs to streamline it's bureaucratic processes, and that it's for this reason that his investments in India over the past 5 years have been slow to mature.

Although I admire Fivenet's gall with having this plan, I have to wonder that if they don't have such a stable network, perhaps some other provider is more suitable - maybe Reliance is OK (if anyone other than Sach92 cares to comment) or maybe Spectranet.
My MTNL connection has been iffy these last few months. Worked like a charm for years earlier. Somehow they are not able to resolve my problem long term. Keeps giving trouble every now and then. I narrowed down to Fivenet or Hayai. Fivenet is unable to supply me because of the monster called cablewalla. And now I can't wait indefinitely for Hayai anymore as my VOIP communication is important to me.
So now I have buzzed Reliance and see how they respond. Reliance is not my most admired company by a mile but I am now against a corner.

Like NZ India is planning its National BB policy. The details are not out yet but only a future tech like FTTH should be implemented.May be u don't want to say it publicly ....But are u awaiting for that announcement in march reg. NBP bcoz u might have a problem if u roll out your infrastructure now only to find others competing on govt. built infrastructure at a latter stage?

So why is that HAYAI NZ is charging them 921 INR as monthly charges For 100mbit/s Speeds??
In India hayai is charging 550 as the infrastructure charges monthly??

That is how it should be Coming soon in Xyz cities!

Even my neighbours feel MTNL is slow, for them HATHWAY is good, i agree with them HATHWAY was indeed good while surfing, but downloads most of the time were less than 60 kb/sec, very rarely i reached near to 60's but i used a lot in video chatting mostly with my dad who is in DXB.

After knowing about FUP in hATHWAY im DAMM disappointed with them and that also only 10 GB, for 512 kbps atleast 50 GB would have been enough.

I do not agree with this statement for myself. MTNL has delivered the speed I paid for. Perhaps they are using a slower speed plan.
My grouse with them is the reliability of the connection

I really don't think it is an issue. First of all the cost structure will be completely different. Secondly, the potential customer's ability to pay will be different and finally and most importantly, the density of potential customers in India cannot be beaten and that must drive down the infrastructure cost on a per customer basis.

My own personal experience in pricing has been that a seller will sell at a price at which he expects enough buyers will find value to buy. That figure is not always related to the cost of providing the product or service.
