The talk about the service being launched in May is ridiculous. How exactly is the start of summer vacation going to help Big DTH is beyond me.

It is a customer friendly ploy - launch delayed due to technical reasons sends out negative vibrations (like when your flight is delayed due to technical reasons). This method will make big tv appealing to parents because:
1. Children will not get distracted during exam time (especially 10th and 12th)
2. Children can relax watching big tv all of summer
3. Parents will not be pestered to take the kids out on picnics during the holidays.

VERY WELL SAID.THATS THE REAL PLOY OF ADAG

I'd move to DTH, but the damn thing is we have 3 TV's at home and for 280 bucks a month the selection of channels is not bad(could be better!!)If we had to have DTH recievers for each or take a 3in1 package it would cost me a helluva lot more :(

MUMBAI: Anil Ambani is expanding his media business into overseas markets. Soon after the news broke about Reliance ADAG being in serious talks with Spielberg's DreamWorks to make Hollywood films, Ambani's Big FM has announced its deal with Singapore-based radio operator MediaCorp Radio to launch a FM station in Singapore.

Titled Big Bollywood 96.3 FM, the station will launch on 1 July.

As part of the agreement, Big FM will syndicate content, manage the frontal ad sales, and market the local FM station.

Big FM COO Tarun Katial tells Indiantelevision.com, “We have entered into a five-year deal with MediaCorp to launch Big Bollywood in Singapore on 1 July. It will play Bollywood music, news and other trivia with exclusive content from Big FM. We will be handling content, ad sales and marketing.\"

Katial said similar projects were also being planned in the US, Middle East and Britain.

The FM station in Singapore will play exclusive Big FM content from 5 to 8 pm. The programming mix includes Bollywood gossip and trivia, an interview with a Bollywood celebrity every day, humuor capsules from comedians Shekhar Suman, Raju Shrivastav and Sunil Pal and News from India – covering general news, financial news as well as sports news.

\"The arrangement with MediaCorp is for a single FM station in the Singapore market,\" adds Katial.

Big FM believes the alliance will strengthen its endeavour to reach out to audiences the world over who are seeking Bollywood entertainment on radio. Says Katial, \"After the phenomenal response received from India, we are all geared to entertain people overseas. We also believe, with the increasing popularity of Bollywood movies across Asia and the world, there is an international audience who will also be interested in consuming our content.”

Singapore has a fast growing Hindi expatriate population. Big Bollywood will tap this expanding community.

MediaCorp Radio operates 13 local FM stations, which broadcast in four different languages over the airwaves. Its stations offer information, news, and entertainment for audiences of varied racial and cultural backgrounds.

Anil Ambani, chairman of Reliance Communication, Capital and Energy, is set to become a television czar.

With plans to launch a news and entertainment channel this year, Anil has decided he wants shooting to be carried out in a high-definition format. \"The new budget is three times more than the previous one”, said a source. “The company wants its channel to appear different from other channels, the difference created with high-resolution will highlight for sure”

If sources are to be believed, the company wants to offer a high-definition television for a rock-bottom price. They claim that the Big TV, DTH (direct-to-home) set-top box will be launched by the end of this year. The monthly cost for the service will be around Rs 500.

Though the company hasn’t disclosed the names for its channel, the word \"Big\" looks likely to feature.

A recent poll conducted on India-forum, asking whether people would shift from Tata Sky to Big TV after its launch, found that 63 per cent said they would stay with Tata Sky, with 37 per cent preferring Big TV. It seems, seeing the wide gap between the two, Anil has decided to throw everything possible at reversing the ratio. HIs $350 million deal with Bachchans shows his determination to dominate the sector.
