Phone number is changed ( there was mention about this in this forum )
BSNL Portal
OR
http://gujarat.bsnl.co.in/fedback-form.asp
Para two :
I had contacted Chennai BSNL, and they have promptly replied to my e mail, and wanted more details to be forwarded to their NIB in Bangalore ( Now Bangaluru )
Para three :1. I can access the usage data of any BB user with his userId and password
Ip 59.xx.xx.xx. I had done it for fault finding for my friend.
2. Same way in new portal also it is possible. IP address 117.xx.xx.xx
14 digit portal ID reqd.
3. Now the condition is : The portal ID 14 digit and password must be same for usage data or other details shown for you and another user.

Suppose someone hacks my account and uses it, and I see that the usage is not according to what I have used, is there any way to trace that person. I mean, we all have Dynamic IPs, so the IP keeps changing all the time, so is there any method of finding out the exact computer from which the connection was used? I don't know much, but what is this MAC address? Suppose someone hacks my account, and uses it to hack some website, and the website people complain, then will BSNL simply show that it was from my account that the hacking took place, or is there something else I don't know? I tried looking up Wikipedia, but I can't understand which MAC it is that I am looking for:

MAC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I think it is this one, but even this is way too difficult for me:

MAC address - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thanks.

Please confirm you are able to access many other users usage details, with YOUR OWN14digit Portal ID and password as " password ".
The same thing can happen to your acct, and others can also access your usage page , if you have not changed your password !!!
.give details to
[email protected]
Para two:
Your post 13 is new subject. Open a new thread please.
Using your USERID/password to access the internet to surf is another topic.

Hey, there is something I need to tell you people: I never received any 14 digit Portal ID and password; when I got the BSNL connection, I did hear that they also gave an email account, but since I didnt want to use it, I never asked them for it. The only username and password that I have is the one that is used by the modem to connect to BSNL. So, you all have another account; what is it for? Should I go and enquire for it?

Where exactly do you use that ID? The one I have, I use at:

http://10.240.89.199/

This is for checking usage. So what does the other ID do? Is it only an email ID, or is there more to it? Is it a necessary thing, because if I go to the BSNL office, I doubt they will solve my query in one trip, it will take many chakkars to their office, so I'll do it only if it is necessary. If someone does come to know my ID and password, does it matter, since I have the one that controls the broadband account?

Thanks.

hydraheaded, only people with new IP like 117.x.x.x need this portal ID(14 characters alphanumeric)different from the one used to connect to net.we new users can't use 10.x.x.x sites to check usage & need portal ID to login to a new site to check usage, change password etc.you don't need portal ID & that's why you haven't been given one.

@whitestar_999 post above is apt. Your IP should be 59.xx.xx.xx
Dataone WebMail for dataone web mail.
You can use the present userid and password.
Para two : if someone knows your User ID and password, he may try to connect to
Internet from his telephone. Whether he will succeed or not is doubtful.
If you have Home 500 tariff etc check your usage regularly to monitor any "hacking "
If you have an unlimited account you can RELAX !
Every time you go the usage website data usage is there. ,
You may considercomputer based usage meters.

I tried to login at the site you have given with my regular userid:

Dataone WebMail

It says the ID and password are incorrect. I got my connection almost two years or so back, about the time when BSNL first started its broadband service. My IP is not the new one, it begins with 5p.xx.xx.xx.

Maybe I should contact the BSNL office now...
