So I have been on a lookout to replace my pretty old setup and going by the thoughts off late I am trying to get your valued PoV, irrespective of the inet connection could be a 200mb Jio later in the year who knows and should not a deal breaker....
Option One
Std all in one type router like Archer C6 with wrt, with other older stuff for network extension across other parts of house.
Homelab LAN connects directly to C6
Option Two
Eth only router like entry level Forti or Mikrotik types with wrt/rOS, connecting to aruba/ruckus WAP, reusing a refurbished stuff or ex enterprise hardware
Homelab LAN connects directly to Forti/Mkt
My inclination is with obvious choice #2, its just it would take time and efforts to add all that up slowly and gradually.
Lets hear you......
