well then the competition is so bad then even if they put up a few more ads , people wont switch to other providers . I have anyways set up email forwarding in both my yahoo and hotmail accounts to gmail so all my email is at one place.OT - Just saw an ad for rediffmail in today's newspaper , for 50 Rs PM . hahaha . they believe people will pay for their shitty email services.

that service is push mail for mobile devices. gmail does that for free only on android devices. that service is similar to how microsoft exchange and blackberry works. as for gmail. i do use it through IMAP (thunderbird/postbox) but their web interface is still the best part. i don't see ads on their mobile edition. maybe that would be next. in the end, ads is where google makes pretty much all their money. and gmail probably costs them a lot of money for what it delivers.

Ha, I dont know why ppl dont like Yahoo...I find it better than gmail. Also I get more spam on gmail than yahoo,May be I am odd one out :D

Believe me or not, I have forwarded gmail e-mails to yahoo :D

from what i remember yahoo mail was push enabled for iPhone when it was launched. not sure if that deal is still on.

there was blog from gmail 2/3 days ago, they are making ads more relevant, and I dont see any harm in seeing ads above and on side of my email, I support it, Gmail is lot better than anything I have used,Yahoo NEW UI sucks, its slow, its painful, just simple thing , I want to select mails on a page but NO in yahoo's new UI I have to select all my 10,000 emails... ITS ANNOYING! hotmail ?? what is hotmail ??? Gmail's push service is good on android in fact the awesome one and ITS FREEE totally. what more could you ask for ?

yeah. the new ads would be based on the kind of emails you receive frequently. and the kind of emails you mark as important (if you have priority inbox turned on). currently the ads are based on the content of the current email that you are reading...
