Applied for Passport. Few queries

So I have applied for a fresh passport. Had a few queries. What questions will I be asked when I go to the PSK? I mentioned a family member in first reference, but does that really matter?Is there any option to change the first reference? What happens next? Will they come to my neighborhood for verification before the PSK appointment or after? How much time till I get my passport officially done? I applied in Non-ECR category through online application, and have given my PAN, voter and aadhaar nos too.

Police verification will happen only after you submit all your documents at the PSK and normally they dont bother about the reference.

Just get all correct docs. No question asked. For police verification give Rs.500

Can someone tell me for a fresh passport

There are two fields:

1. Have you ever been known by other names (aliases)? If yes, give alias name
   
2. Have you ever changed your name? If yes, give previous name

What should married woman provide here? (as name changes after marriage)

Let us say name before Marriage was - Jill John Doe

And after marriage changed to - Jill Jack Sparrow

For second question under help its mentioned.

If you have changed your name/ surname after marriage select Yes

So that kind of clarifies for 2nd question. That married woman needs to say Yes.

But they havent made the same clear for 1st question.

Does one need to say yes or no? Because it kind of becomes redundant question.

Does saying YES to name change attract additional verification? Would prefer to avoid it.

Its a fresh passport, plus PAN card, Aadhar card, Voter card, bank accounts is in new name (after marriage) only

Old name virtually does not exist in Government records. So want to avoid unnecessary verification because of name change due to marriage.

my wife held her passport under her maiden name, so when we had applied for renewal we were asked to furnish

marriage certificate and signature confirmation certificate from bank. i guess you will be required to furnish the

marriage certificate too .

If name was changed for some reason, we need to publish notice in 2 local newspaper, and attach copy of that notice (both printed cutout of newspaper) to Passport application. Apart from that there should be no hassles if all other documents are alright.

if you have adequate proof of identity and address in new name you do not need mention name change since that applies only incase you have documents in old name
