Are there any 2G/3G plans that VI/Airtel/BSNL still allow that has a very low daily cost per number of days the service is alive till deactivation?

Hello guys!

I want to know if there are any cheap 2G/3G plans that I could buy that let me just keep a number for SMS/call verification purposes alive which is different from my main number, so I just want to be able to receive SMS'es (and incoming calls too, that'd be really good, if not then I might still consider). Basically I want the cost of keeping the service alive (the recharge amount) divided by the number of days they let me use the service (even considering those days after the plan validity is over before the 90 day period or whatever policy company follows before deactivating the number for not recharging again) low.

When I go to Vi/airtel they only show their 4G plans I guess. There's an app called Doosra that lets you do that but it's expensive and there is a cap to the number of calls / total minutes spent in incoming/outgoing / sending/receiving SMS and it doesn't have such a good rating on the PlayStore, so not considering it.

Let me know if there's anything that comes to your mind. Thanks!

BSNL ₹2 for every 3 days auto-debit from talktime balance will keep your incoming and outgoing (debited from talktime) services alive. Just recharge ₹30 monthly. Autodebit will happen as long as there's at least ₹2 in talktime balance.

No unfortunately BSNL has stopped this scheme. You'll have to top up with validity vouchers. If you intend to use the number actively, then top up with combo packs.

See the way BSNL mobile prepaid is currently operating is, they autodeduct every 3rd day for extending validity of previous two days, including the current day. So every 3rd day, just prior to the autodeduct, the number has outgoing barred. So If you don't plan to actively use that number, like in case you don't mind not being able to make outgoing calls or SMS on certain days, then go ahead and just do a regular talktime topup <₹90. BSNL will auto deduct and keep the line active.

But if you want the freedom to be able to send outgoing SMS or make calls at will, then this outgoing barring every 3rd day will be a problem. So I'd advise you to just topup with validity vouchers that keep your line active, but don't provide any extra benefits.

Third option: if you plan to use this like like a primary line, then recharge a combo plan than gives unlimited calls and some GB per day.
