Arun Sarin stepped down as CEO of VF(Worldwide) today after announcing an record operating profit of 13.2 Billion US$/ 6 Billion Pounds at the AGM;mostly via acquisitions in Asia(India) and other places.

He pushed VF to be a global class Mobile provider and bring it back to the graceful state it was in the old ORANGE days.HUTCH was a Desi Tamasha.

Now arguably Ghosh was and will be the India head for some time, but Sarin may have pushed him to do what VF managed to do these last few months after its launch.

Will Sarin's VF Worldwide replacement,Vittorio Colao be as good?
More importantly will Essar now play a larger role and will VF go downhill from here?:wall:

Post ur views!!

Well what i heard on the BBC yesterday and news reports online, was that the board was happy with the progress he made in last 5 years,The turn around from the time when VF made the biggest losses in Corporate history 5 years ago when he joined,And the board wanted him to continueBut he himself decided its best to leave when me made a 13.2Billion $ profit, coz he wanted to go when he was on Top

hindustan times says, "under him indian mobile operations saw accelerated growth"i dont recall any great offer vodafone put in mkt. infact it was airtel who first slashed the STD rates.and even if he was not there, it wud not have made difference to growth.indian mkt was growing thats why he bought hutch and its not that he bought hutch and indian mkt grew.

^AmishRemember that HUTCH was losing out in the race to Airtel and others.Service of HUTCH was pathetic compared to ORANGE.VF walked in and the Red Logo and the dog finally had something to say.Cash was injected and i personally saw improvements in the VF shops, the staff,CC,Talk Plans(Followed Airtel,if not lead),Great improvement in Network strength and lower Network congestion, with almost no call drops :)BPL no longer competes in most markets coz apart from Mumbai, BPL is VF !!Wouldn't u say Services have got better with VF in here?Would it have been the same if it was still Hutch?Personally Sarins foresight may have earned VF billions in emerging markets, but had VF not bought into Hutch,it was gonna be just a street dog in the long run in this dog eat Dog market:rofl:

i dont see increase in network strength. i still face same problem while traveliing in trains. CC number has gone bad. u need to keep going inside to talk to someone. i.e. direct 9 or 0 option to talk to cc is not there anywhere.talk plans are same, rates are slashed only if some1 else slashes it. infact hutch was first to hike STD rates from 2.4 to 2.65inshort i dont see much change. its all same.

^Amish/ViralbugPoints taken guys, maybe ur experiences are different from Mine. But in the end I find the VF experience much ,much better than HUTCH,(Although I agree not a great as Orange.)

sarin's resignation is going to have little effect on the india's operations. indian government controls how the market behaves D:
