Basic queries on mtnl triband.....

hi everyone...i have a few questions....how much time do mtnl take to install the connection in mumbai.......i have a few weeks for the spectra connection left so i want to discontinue the same due to poor service...secondly....would using second hand modems affect the connection...i saw D-Link 502t and sterlite sam 100 modems on ebay india for sale...these r second hand...should we buy it n use them...or would buying from mtnl would be better.....they r taking 300rs for the modem and 50rs per month...so even if continue using it lets say 4-5yrs wouldnt they have recovered the cost of the modem....how cn they keep charging 50rs per month infinitely......Also can anyone tell me how is the connection...most of my friends r happy....but my mom says ppl in her office encountered various problems ....i know they r a govt organisation but how can i actually find out how are they in a particular area...i dnt hv any frnds in my area to verify the same....

[*]They say 14 days but sometimes lesser within a week or so to install.
[*]Buy from MTNL since they give new or refurbished modems from old discontinued subscribers.You can buy from Ebay if you can install it yourself.
[*]They can charge infinity as its their policy, I recommend you buy a new wired modem from the market or from the internet.
[*]Quality of connections are poor since their infrastructure is poor/degrading built upon 2 decades of cooper lines,Reliability and up time is very good. Problems rectify themselves automatically.

if i buy from outside, even then mtnl guys can install it right? also do the mtnl guys provide splitter n jack as the old modems on ebay dont come with these components

Yes they can help you install it. No they dont provide splitters and jacks, I recommend you buy new as the modem has splitter included from Ebay or from the market.
