For the first time many recent hit shows including Luther and Happy Valley will now be available to view in this treasured format alongside their BBC Store digital release.

We have created an experimental ‘holographic’ TV device that brings to life some of our archive footage, ranging from the iconic BBC globes to giant dinosaurs.
We wanted an extremely low-fi and low-cost way to explore holographic displays and how the floating images of augmented and mixed reality devices, which aren’t readily available for audience testing, might be used to view BBC content in the future.
Although the famous Princess Leia hologram from Star Wars was set a “long, long time ago”, this type of audience experience might not be that far away.

For years the recording of the opening of BBC TWO in 1964 was thought to have been lost, but here it is in all its glory! Gerald Priestland tries to keep the station on air!
