Dear All,

Cinema Hall Channels in BIG TV seems to be HD Mode. Today I had a chance to watch Channel 105, which is in HD Mode. The Picture is in True 16:9 format so there is no feeling of stretching images. Also it had very rich color and nice Quality in Audio too. Find the Screenshots below.

HAHA joke of the day.just because it is in 16:9 mode doesn't mean its HD.HD is dependent mainly on resolution...haha wat an amature.

Agree with pranay,Probably what bgltv meant was that the picture content is in 16:9 wide screen format, which looks good on all wide screen tv, be it lcd or plasma , as 4:3 material gets stretched to fit the screen or if u watch iti n 4:3 format u will have black bars on both the sides

Hello My Einstein,Good that you have invented something !!! SAYING IT IS NOT A HD MODE. BUT BE AWARE THAT ANOTHER CHANNELS ARE NOT EVEN IN THAT MODE., AND JUST IT IS A BEGINNING OF THE HD REVOLUTION.How many DTH operators do provide it is 16:9 Mode? Definitely it is a sign our your sadness.

Hello My Einstein,

Good that you have invented something !!! SAYING IT IS NOT A HD MODE. BUT BE AWARE THAT ANOTHER CHANNELS ARE NOT EVEN IN THAT MODE., AND JUST IT IS A BEGINNING OF THE HD REVOLUTION.

How many DTH operators do provide it is 16:9 Mode? Definitely it is a sign our your sadness.

We are just correcting to, we do not claim to be SMART but thanks for calling is Einstein

HD means higher no. of pixels for a specified resolution. 16:9 ratio does not automatically mean HD. Here in Qatar many standard definition channels are in 16:9 mode

HD can be Full HD which is 1080p with max resolution of 1920×1080 or HD Ready which is 720p with max resolution of 1280x720. As pranay said widescreen 16:9 can be in standard definition of 480p too.I suppose in your set top box there should be a channel information screen which will list the properties of the channel like 16:9, 4:3, HD, SD etc.

Also remember when you buy a new HD LCD - make sure that brand/model has the ability to specify what resolution each channel is beamed - 480/720/1080i/p.Not all LCD TV brands offer this and this would be useful once DTH in India begin to offer HD. Good to double check so we can make sure we are not taken for a ride by these DTH providers!
