I think given the amount of leaks, Indian banks etc. will have to start working under the assumption that everyone's full name, mobile number, email address, dob and pan number are publically available and then design authentication around that
But is the infrastructure of these banks in itself secured enough?
It is one of the reasons why I'm hesitant in opening a bank account with video KYC. God knows if the verification video and associated details end up on the internet soon enough. Of course when something like that happens they'll say "your financial information is of course safe" as if that is the only thing that matters.
