I have purchased a mini laptop just a month before from Dell, which was already preinstalled with a operating system Windows XP Home edition version 2002 SP3.

I have recently purchased a Teracom "BSNL 3G GSM/WCDMA LW272" USB Data card. When I insert the data card in the USB, the drivers get installed automatically, and the PC searches the hardware and installes. Then after the blue screen apears with the message, "A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer". When I remove the Data card and restart the PC, it starts and operates normal. The same data card is working normal on other PC having operating system Windows XP.

The following message is also displayed on the blue screen:
***STOP: 0X000008E(0Xc0000090,0XA85BBF91, 0X9F1BBF64, 0X00000000)
*** 0A017Afx.sys-Address A85BBF91 base at A85AF000, Datestamp 4a1dfb74.

Can anyone please help me out of the problem.

I had similar problem on my Dell laptop, after analyzing I figured out that on inserting the USB Modem Windows detected it as a CDROM initially. Then, I uninstalled Sonic/Roxio software suspecting some conflict and restarted the PC. After this I was able to use the modem without any issue. Hope this helps you as well.

Dear ssrsh82, thanks for your response. I don't have Sonic/Roxio software on my PC. But when I contacted the Dell, the studied the minidump files and concluded that there is some problem with the audio driver. I uninstalled and re-installed the audio driver but still, the problem exists.

Hi akgiri2005, I am sorry that my experience was of not use to you. For people with advanced level of understanding the PC software, device drivers and managing them, here is a general approach for debugging such things. If there are some conflicting software/ driver one should first uninstall it. Then one should verify that Blue screen issue is resolved. If Blue screen issue is not resolved one should collect the new minidump files or identify the source of conflict and try to isolate it. Once Blue screen issue is resolved, install the BSNL 3G USB Modem software. After it is successfully installed and connection to the internet is established, one can start installing the software/ driver that were previously uninstalled one after the other. Good luck.

Dear SSRSH82, thanks for your response. Hey no need to say sorry. Your advise is very useful. I will try to to pin point the drivers/application for the conflict. . . .I will let you know if it helps. . . thanks. . . .
