E07- The opening scene in the desert was terrific. But "Say my name," "Heisenberg," "You're goddamn right," was a bit over the top. I guess they were trying to recreate something like "I'm the one who knocks" line. Hubris might yet become the cause of Walt's downfall. There were a couple of contrived moments in this episode. First, Walt being at Hank's office at the exact moment when Gomez reveals about Mike's lawyer flipping, was a bit of a stretch. Secondly, when Saul hesitates to bring the go money to Mike, he declines Jessie's offer repeatedly. Jessie is someone who Mike likes and trusts. Well, one can understand that he was trying to protect Jessie just in case things went south. But, how can he accept Walt's offer to bring the money. Mike doesn't trust Walt. Did he not expect any trouble from Walt at a time when he was trying to flee the city? May be, Mike was too cocky in thinking that Walt can do nothing to him and that he's a cool S.O.B. Well, Mike is a cool S.O.B. but Walt is Heisenberg. Although Mike's killing was not absolutely necessary, I guess the writers decided the time was up for him. So, they contrived to make Walt meet up with Mike. It'd have been cool if Jessie was going to get the money and some how Walt had managed to con Jessie into allowing to go meet Mike. But the short season has resulted in the pace and story telling methods of Breaking Bad gets hampered. Also, the stuff Mike said was total B.S. He said that everything was Walt's fault and that's because he didn't know his place. Well, Gus was going to kill Walt. Mike was going to kill Walt. Why? Because Walt saved Jessie. If Walt had not killed Gus, they would have killed Walt. That's not an acceptable scenario for Walt.Mike keeps underestimating and insulting Walt. Earlier in the season, he said to Walt that just because he killed Jesse James, he doesn't become Jesse James. Jesse James was killed by a coward. Mike called Walt a coward. And in the last episode, he tells Walt that he should have known his place.Mike is a cool character but not a good guy. He's killed many people. He was even going to kill Lydia, a mother. Jonathan Banks was terrific as Mike and he deserves an Emmy nomination next year. BrBa might be a violent show but it always deals the bad people what they deserve. In that way, Mike had it coming. They way he died almost matched the killing of Gus Fring last season finale. This season, BrBa has been at it's cinematographic peak. The visuals are stunning. Terrific episode.
