Mid Season five finale: I was very restless during the entire family get-together scene at the pool. I was suspecting that something bad was gonna happen.
Who would have thunk that Hank is gonna discover the big secret about Walter while taking a shit...
But, I thought that the ending was a bit convenient. I mean the show for the last couple of seasons was building towards Hank finding out about Walt's secret. Eventually, the way it happened was bit of a let down.
Also, Walter is not dumb. He always managed to cover his tracks well. Oh well, it's not as bad as the ending of the last season of Dexter.
So, what happens now? What will Hank do? I don't think Walt is busted yet by any stretch of imagination. But, Hank knows now. And Walt does not know that Hank knows.
Is Walt really done with the meth
business? If he is, how will Declan and Lydia take his decision? What about Todd?
Is Walt's cancer back? I think it is. Otherwise, there's no reason for showing the hospital scene. I think he was also taking some pills in the first (flash forward) scene of the season.
And finally, what led to the first scene in this season? Why was Walt living under a new identity in North Carolina and why did he come back to New Mexico and bought some heavy artillery?
We will have to wait for another 10 months. AMC should have given BrBa 2 seasons of 13 episodes each to finish off. But they didn't do that because 2 seasons would mean a pay hike for the actors. So, they split one season into 2 halves of 8 episodes each. I've to say that the pacing suffered as a result.
All said and done, a very good season and a very good mid-season finale. The season was also visually spectacular.
After all the terrible things that Walt has triggered, I still strongly root for him.
