From BSNL MNP PAGE - MOBILE PROMOTIONAL OFFERS

These are the details wrt a 3G Prepaid Connection:- ( after paying 120/-)

a) At the time of activation of all port-in customers, additional talk value of Rs.100 will be offered in addition to the normal free talk value available with FRC.

--> Actual talk time available on the SIM is 250/- . The connection is valid for 6 months.

b) All port-in customers will be offered 5 GB GPRS for one month free of charge.

I had checked with the officer at the CSC in Trivandrum , who confirmed that 5GB data is free on GPRS/3G.
However, it seems that 3G data is charged !

--> 5 GB available on 2G . Check using *124*1#
--> 3G data seems to be charged . Can you try *124*1# and confirm? There is a cost displayed for data used on 3G!

c) Free SMS ? Check using *124*1#

No mention of SMS, but there seem to be 2000 SMS free!

Do confirm if others have the same ?

iv) Postpaid Connection:-
a) 50% rebate in the FMC of first month after port in.
b) 5GB GPRS will be free of charge for one month. Free GPRS/DATA usage associated with FMC shall not available for one month.
c) Freebies attached with the plan will remain same.
d) Where ever, the data usage offered with existing plans is more than the data usage offered, the higher data usages already offered will prevail.
For all Telecom Circles except Haryana the above tariff will be implemented with effect from the date of implementation of MNP. In respect of Haryana Telecom Circle, the above tariff will be effective from 01.02.2011.

BSNL's offer for porting in customers on prepaid. -> http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/Promotional_offer_mobile.htm

This is specified for "GSM" port in customers, but not specific to 2G/3G. Here is the data given for prepaid port in users.

A-Special Tariff Offers for Port-in GSM Customers under Mobile Number Portability (MNP)

i) Port-in charges will be waived off. [ Yes ]
ii) 32K SIM will be given free of cost. In case of specific demand for other SIMs, actual SIM price will be charged.

No need to pay 19/- as port in charge .
However, you need to pay for the 3G .. i.e. the 120/- for enabling 3G on the SIM.

Check balance with --> *123#

iii) At the time of activation of all port-in customers, additional talk value of Rs.100 will be offered in addition to the normal free talk value available with FRC. [Yes]

We seem to be getting 250/- with the activation of the 3G 120 plan.
Also, validity is 6 months.

iv) All port-in customers will be offered 5 GB GPRS for one month free of charge.

I checked with BSNL CSC, who confirmed that 5GB data for a month is valid on GPRS / 3G .
However data seems to be charged when using 3G!

Check GPRS / 3G usage with : *124*1#
A separate charge will be noted for 3G data used!

v) Free SMS? (not mentioned)

There seem to be 2000 SMS free. Confirm using : *124*2#

However, you need to pay for the 3G .. i.e. the 120/- for enabling 3G on the SIM.

this is not correct. you just need to pay Rs.59/- for 3G SIM and choose any FRC that is listed at: :: BSNL 3G :: Prepaid
I got my number ported from Airtel to BSNL 3G. I paid SIM charges of 59 and FRC 58 for [email protected] plan. you will get 125/- as your balance.

BSNL port in users: Do you get a confirmation message/call back from Customer care, for messages sent to 1503? On BSNL cards, i get both.On port in numbers, i seem to get the confirmation message, but have not got a call back till now.Anyone else facing the issue?
